Makenzie Morgan Gomez
Makenzie (she/they) is a Mexican-American, queer, dynamically disabled performer based in Brooklyn, NY. She is a member of Actors’ Equity Association and recently made her Off-Broadway debut starring as Libby in Neil Simon’s I Ought To Be In Pictures at Theatre Row. She used both a cane and manual wheelchair in the show, and critics shared that doing so “seamlessly blends… in without needing to alter the story.” She is represented by MMV Talent.
Makenzie rotates between multiple mobility aids- a cane, forearm crutches, and a manual wheelchair- based on what would be most helpful to mitigate her symptoms for the scenario. Just as she’s built this rotation into her daily routine, she’s applied the same assessment when attending dance class and developing a character in a play.
Prior to becoming disabled in 2020, Makenzie had begun establishing a career as a reliable dance captain and ensemble member, as well as working as a choreographer’s assistant. She’s taken this choreography background and combined it with her new lived experience being a mobility aid user to develop Creative Adaptations LLC.
